I am an advocate of renewable energy, including solar; wind; geothermal; hydro; ocean and bio. I also have a background that includes work in association with Nation Power and British Nuclear Fuels Ltd. That said, I can’t understand why we, as a country with food cost and supply issues post Brexit, are seriously considering turning over 3,000 acres of prime farming land over to a solar power station? Surly the Secretary of State and the Energy Secretary would better serve the public by investigating and implementing ways of increasing our output of renewable energy by changing legislation around our current infrastructure (insisting solar panels are fitted to the roofs of all new building for a starter) rather than signing off on one that depletes our capacity to grow our own food.
