I live in Howden and am a keen walker; I am very concerned about this massive solar panel farm, it will industrialise the lovely countryside north of Howden. I am in favour of solar energy and have solar panels on my house roof- but solar panels should be installed on roofs and brown field sites and not on fertile agricultural land. This scheme is massive, it will have a huge impact on the countryside and rural communities. Not only does it cover a large area, with a vast number of solar panels but panels themselves are really big- 3.5 metres in height. There will be destruction of hedgerows, trees and green fields during the construction phase and excessive noise as the panels are installed, plus a big increase in traffic. Boom Power claims that sheep will be able to graze under/between the panels, but the panels are so big that nothing will grow under them. This scheme is not green at all , it is just a way of making money. The whole area will look hideous with acres of metal, glass, CCTV and generator boxes which emit a low hum. It will ruin our lovely local countryside.
