I want Gatwick to have more scheduled connectivity to the world in general but to the USA and India in particular. Although Air India's recent direct services to India from LGW are welcome, travel to India's main cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bengalaru, Chennai and Hyderabad still means travel via the likes of Emirates or Turkish with a hub stop and aircraft change in Dubai or Istanbul respectively. Or the alternative is a longer and environmentally unfriendly longer road trip to Heathrow to catch a direct flight instead. A 2nd runway will do much to bring new airlines to LGW while encouraging existing ones to expand their network out of LGW as well. This will increase competition, customer choice and passenger value for money. The above will have an overall beneficial impact for business in the gatwick diamond which is the area in which my business is based.
