Gatwick airport is big enough. One can’t help but think that Gatwick sets out to deceive when documents put out for public consultation are unclear, blurry, so making it difficult to know how exactly each area would be affected. What are they afraid of? Gatwick should be required to be transparent with local residents on their intentions and likely outcomes for residents. The current roads, infrastructure and railways cannot cope with expansion - it barely copes now. There would need to be considerable investment in local infrastructure. Planes do not stick to the NPRs already in place. Planes cut in off the noise preferential route if they are running late or maybe the pilots can’t be bothered but there is no need for planes to cut in during the early hours of the morning and fly over houses at low altitudes. Heathrow is closed during night time hours so there is no excuse for this behaviour. Unfortunately Gatwick is an inconsiderate neighbour. Gatwick would struggle to get sufficient staff to run a larger operation efficiently. We live close to NPR Route 4. If the emergency runway were to be upgraded to provide a second runway then air traffic should be evenly spread on departure routes when planes are at their loudest. If this were to go ahead then Gatwick must be given strict operating hours.
