I oppose the Development Consent Order to rebuild the Gatwick emergency runway as a 2nd runway. This is because it will mean an increase in aircraft noise, especially at night. Gatwick flights taking place at night already disturb our sleep to a great extent and it is not acceptable to exacerbate this noise nuisance. In addition, there is the pollution problem – Gatwick flights leave a smell of aircraft fuel behind them. There is already too much noise at night from Gatwick flights, which on some nights wakes me up and keeps me awake. As Gatwick has flights at all hours, there is no respite for people living near flight paths. Also, the pollution from the aircraft is unpleasant to live amongst. The proposed application will worsen these problems.
