This expansion of Gatwick will cause an increase of fossil fuel use both in the building and infrastructure changes as well as its capacity for increased flights. Given everything that is known scientifically about the climate emergency, our own experience in the UK, Europe and watching the rest of the world of this in recent years, and the United Nations recent declaration and plea for countries to reduce the use of fossil fuels, a decision to permit this to go ahead would be negligent and irresponsible.
