Aviation noise in the UK is not regulated, but has a huge impact on people's health (physical, as well as mental), wellbeing, & right to quiet enjoyment of life. I consider the main impact of this project to be increased aviation noise (& air pollution), esp. wrt. other airport expansion projects, like Heathrow, & the limited rights of communities to mitigation. Our airspace is being ever taken over by aviation & more & more people, who have lived for decades under peaceful skies, are being impacted by noise. Airports & airlines have a terrible track record of taking these concerns seriously. Contrary to what the aviation industry claims, airplanes are not getting significantly quieter & there are huge gaps in noise monitoring. Those affected now & potentially in future by noise must be included as stakeholders with a significant ability to change & challenge project outcomes.
