I think that the proposed plan is amazing. Firstly, the new runway means more air traffic will be able to arrive at LGW. This results in higher levels of tourism, cheaper air fares and overall easier access to the london area and south east England. Secondly, I can't speak for anyone, but as an avid avgeek, i'd love for an extra runway which could help make more aircraft arrive. Currently, LGW mostly operate 737's, A320's, 777's and some A380. Using a shorter second runway, could mean utilising the longer runway for higher passenger aircraft's, such as A330's, 747's, 767's and 757's. Coming back to my second point, this means more pax could arrive at LGW. Now for the negatives. Using a second runway would increase noise levels especially if you will be using more long range, more powerful aircraft. It would also mean that there would need to be more on duty staff, more gates and bigger airport facilities, such as security and lounges. In conclusion, I believe that we SHOULD add a new runway to LGW. Thanks,
