Having lived in the Gatwick area all my life I know that aircraft noise is more intrusive when it involves aircraft taking off over my village. The current one runway arrangement means that this doesn't always happen as sometimes the direction of approach is changed so that aircraft are coming in to land over the village. However with the introduction of a second runway this respite will end and not only will aircraft always be taking off over the village but they will increase in number.
