I oppose the development of increased capacity at Gatwick and all other UK airports as it is currently incompatible with the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions. Increased airport capacity will generate increased air traffic and increased greenhouse gas emissions. Air traffic should only be allowed to increase in conjunction with technologies that produce an overall reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, such as electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft. Until these aircraft are in commercial operation, airport capacity should not be increased.
