I strongly object to this proposal to bring Gatwick’s northern runway into permanent use. Gatwick is located in a rural position, well away from London. The flight paths affect rural neighbourhoods and this proposal would subject those of us who wish to live away from noise and pollution to excessive levels of noise pollution. Since we moved to this location in 2001 the noise and disturbance from Gatwick traffic overhead has increased hugely. We routinely have planes flying low over the house and the largest of these cause us to stop conversations if we are outside. There is a constant backdrop of noise. Night flights mean disturbed nights for us in the summer with windows being open. Gatwick already blights communities some distance from it, if this application were to be accepted it would make life in our rural communities unbearable at times. Surely at a time of climate crisis we should not be giving this type of application any consideration ; we need to make a stand for what is truly important.
