Unless the 100,000 extra take-offs and landings every year by the additional aircraft using the second runway will: a) not increase the noise disturbance currently suffered by those currently living in the vicinity of the airport and/or under the flight paths; b) not worsen the air quality which is already over the maximum limit established for a single year by the World Health Organisation, who say that long-term exposure constitutes a health risk; and c) will not adversely affect the pressure on the existing inadequate infrastructure (roads, housing, etc.) because of the additional airport staff that will be required; I can see no logical reason why a second runway should be built.
