Expansion at Gatwick cannot be sustainable development, air travel is already imposing unsustainable burdens (see CAGNE evidence) locally and more widely. “Green” aviation fuel is, and will remain, a myth. For all the reasons a second runway was previously rejected at LGW - after a long and exhaustive process - together with the fact that it is even more apparent now that aviation expansion is not sustainable. LGW investors took a gamble - LGW v LHR - and lost; now they are trying to make good on their investment by creating a second runway by stealth and bad faith tactics.
