I have lived in the village of Felbridge from the 1990's. The village was never on the flightpath until recently. When Gatwick was exploring various flightpaths tests over the past 5-6 years, the planes were taking off and flying above the village. It has now become a regular occurance and the noise level is unbearable. The planes are are so low you can read the letters on the underbody of the plane. The expansion is planned to create jobs which in turn increases the no of cars travelling to and from the airport. East Grinstead and surrounding areas currently supply majority of the airports workforce. The road infrastructure cannot cope at present. The town of East Grinstead has been discussing a by pass since the 1950's. The A264 and A22 gets gridlocked on a daily basis. The number of housing developments has already taken place without increasing the road capacity and there are more planning applications have been submitted. There are no rail or tram links planned. The infrastruture needs to be improved and the flightpaths must be agreed in advance before this project gets the goahead.
