1.The Government has already come out in favour of expansion at Heathrow rather than Gatwick so these proposals run counter to any airport expansion in the South East . 2. Gatwick expansion is based on the assumption of a continued upward trend in air travel. I believe this to be incorrect and that climate emergency will make air travel in the future less likely or affordable. Expansion at Gatwick may also clash with expansion at Heathrow and leave them fighting for a diminishing number of passengers 3. As a resident living in fairly close proximity to Gatwick any significant increase in flights will lead to increased pollution which is unacceptable by any measure. Climate emergency has prompted the Government to put in place measures to reduce pollution so unless there are concrete proposals to introduce electric planes these proposals must be rejected. To put it bluntly why should I be forced into purchasing an electric car and other pollution mitigating measures when Gatwick seems to think it acceptable to increase pollution reigning down on us from above.
