The proposed second runway at Gatwick will increase the noise, traffic and pollution in our village and the surrounding area. Our small roads have no footpaths or street lighting and the increase of traffic makes moving around the village more dangerous. Also the road structure is not up to heavy traffic. Already the roads are breaking up. As for the increased noise and pollution from the planes is not acceptable. Also nothing is mentioned about night flights. The original emergency run way was not built to be used as a second runway as its foundations will not take the weight of continuous use by planes. This is a complete new runway. Not even in the same position. We live in Surrey. We get very few perks from the Airport only the pollution, noise, extra traffic. Things that must be considered Noise, Roads, staff needed, infrastructure, pollution Noise, the increase in the number of planes over the villages will be doubled so making it unbearable. Also at the moment they do not fly all night but I am sure this will change. Roads. In the villages surrounding the airport the roads are narrow and not built to take a substantial increase in traffic. There are no pavements and the increase of traffic and the speed of the traffic if walking on the roads at present is unsafe and this will only worsen. Also many of the roads are in the Surrey Cycle route. Staff The increase of staff needed to work at the airport would be doubled. The housing stock in this area is very expensive and in short supply. Where are these thousands of people to live. The Green Belt cannot be used. Already Crawley has joined up with Horsham. Infrastructure. In this are there is a shortage of Schools, G.Ps. But East Surrey Hospital is already too small for the area it serves, lack of staff, and facilities. Pollution. The pollution from the increase of planes, cars for staff and passengers will be as bad as living near Heathrow. Also all the extra heavy goods vehicles emissions must be considered
