I oppose the new runway at Gatwick airport because: 1. I suffer from the noise coming from planes over my house. It often wakes me up at night. This impacts my wellbeing and quality of life. Any increase will be intolerable. 2. There is no evidence of quieter planes being developed. 3. There is no offer of a cap on aircraft movements with the noise envelope. 4. There is no guarantee that night flights will not be increased. 5. Noise and emissions will increase, due to significantly increased aircraft movements, taxiing, and holding at the complex traffic light system. 6. There is a climate emergency. The out-of-date planning laws and government policy do not consider this. The number of flights needs to be cut, not increased. I fear for the future of my grandchildren. The earth is already experiencing more extreme fires and floods. An increase in flights will only exacerbate these problems. Please do not encourage more flying.
