I wish to register my objection to the plan. The government has already supported airport expansion in the south east via a third runway at Heathrow. This is an attempt by Gatwick to get extra capacity via the back door. Gatwick cannot manage the current volume of traffic (see multiple newspaper headlines). This therefore raises safety concerns. The potential increase in flights would damage the quality of life in the area as flight paths would become more crowded producing pollution both noise and environmental. Also I cannot comprehend why - given the green issues of today and global warming- additional most polluting travel would be supported. The economic benefits touted I suspect are mainly for the pockets of the management and shareholder . Please do not grant permission to this dreadful idea.
