Whilst I understand the potential economic advantages in the area of a second runway at Gatwick, the impact on the environment, the health and wellbeing of myself and my family makes this proposal unacceptable. We are disturbed constantly from early in the morning to late at night and sometimes during the night. Even with our windows closed, the aircraft noise is invasive and makes it difficult to have a conversation. This is particularly pronounced when we are outside in the garden. Night flights also interrupt our sleep. I am also very concerned about the aircraft pollution. How can this expansion possibly contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions. The advantages for Gatwick Airport certainly do not justify commissioning a second runway and effectively doubling the very troubling impacts I have noted above. The thought of constant and relentless air traffic is, frankly, frightening.
