I have lived in Hever for approaching 25 years and have experienced the increase in the harmful effects of Gatwick originating air traffic from being merely incidental, to a constant blight, which under these proposals will be increased by a significant magnitude by adding a further runway. The blight is multi layered and complex ranging from health (noise, pollution, sleep deprivation etc) to financial, in depressing house and land values. The so called benefits are illusory in terms of employment as they do not in the main effect those impacted (we are not part of the European "gig" economy) even if the figures quoted by Gatwick are to be believed, which from an examination of historic against actual they should not . We have been promised changes in take off and landing strategies to reduce noise, the improvement in plane technology will make it all fine. Yet like most of the figures and assurances made by Gatwick when tested by the passage of time the experience of those under the increasing number of low flying flights gets worse. Until Gatwick can materially and demonstrably improved its detrimental impact on the many thousands of people they regularly harm they cannot be allowed to expand their business, particularly when it is contrary to to strategy to get to Net Zero, profits are offshored, and it rewards the historic deceit of the company.
