I am deeply concerned about the environmental impact of extending the activity at Gatwick. In the 40 years that I have lived in a rural area the noise and frequency of flights has increased significantly to the point that sleep is affected and the amenity of my garden. Low flying aircraft approximately every couple of minutes at peak time is very disruptive. I have lived in the village of Penshurst for 40 years and in the last 10 the volume of air traffic and the impact on our local rural environment has magnified hugely. Summer nights can be almost unbearable if windows are opened and the planes are usually between three and five thousand feet above us. I am extremely concerned about an increasing flights and most especially about an additional runway being brought into service. At the very least I would seek a ban on night flights but the increase in traffic will be almost unbearable in such a quiet area. At peak times there is only a minute or two between planes crossing the village.
