The airport is in the wrong part of the country to service people coming from so far and wide as they do for Heathrow, which is much more suited for expansion in this regard. We do not have the travel infrastructure to get all the extra people in and out of the airport to their onward destinations. I live on a country road that is already inundated with traffic short cutting from using the motorway system to get there. This will become stretched beyond belief should the numbers increase as projected. The additional amount of flights running overhead will also seriously affect qualities of life in the village in which I live not far from the runway. We live in an age of needing to cut back on pollution and the consumption of fossil fuels, for climate change reasons we are all very aware of. There is no need for expansion of flying, as there is so much unnecessary flying already. There should be active discouragement of needless travel and to consider more the planet. There is no need for it, so please see sense and just put a sock in it, and stop it.
