As a longstanding (10+ years) resident in Lingfield I have to oppose this project. The noise and pollution from the aircraft is already disrupting people's lives. In the summer you can no longer enjoy your garden without the constant, every 3 minute, roar of the aircraft engines overhead. Overnight flights appear to have ramped up meaning it is harder to sleep, you can't have your window open in fear of it waking you up. Working from home, the noise is also very bad. It has continued to get worse and worse over the previous years and there has already been changes which mean all the incoming flights are no longer flying over the racecourse as they use to but are on the same route, over the residential houses of Lingfield. That is the current situation, however with the new plans this is going to get worse. It is obviously that this scheme is another way to try and get a 2nd run way, of which they were refused previously. It is a ploy and it is disappointing that Gatwick are trying so hard to misdirect the public. I have continued to try and convey my thoughts on the paperwork that they send but no reply. With the UK and the wider world in a climate emergency I am not exactly sure how adding to the capacity of flights at Gatwick helps that. There is currently no technology available for aircraft that will significantly reduce the emissions, pollution and their noise but here we are suggesting that we add another usable runway. Solve the emissions and the noise from aircraft first, then look to expand airports if necessary. Thank you for listening.
