The infrastructure around Gatwick is already under strain - the railway line, M23, A23 and the smaller feeder roads are already stressed. Crawley has a shortage of reasonably priced housing and little rooom to expand, unless land to the south of Gatwick can be released for development. Our air quality is already such that I often smell the aviation fuel from aircraft landing and taking off - this irritates my eyes. The proposed change of use for the northern emergency runway to, effectrively, a 2nd runway is an attempt to avoid the rejection of a 2nd runway by the government.
