I oppose Gatwick Airport's application for a northern runway because: - there will be an increase in aircraft noise with the huge number of extra flights. I live in a generally peaceful rural area 20miles from Gatwick that already has a succession of flights overhead on some nights which causes me stress and makes it difficult to get to sleep. - this will be a new runway, thus not complying with Government's Aviation Strategy. - we are facing a climate emergency and a new runway would add a significant amount of carbon and greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. - there will be little job security for many workers due to the volatile nature of the airport's leisure business. - more road traffic would be generated on the M23 increasing congestion and decreasing air quality around Gatwick and nearby towns. - the Brighton Main Line can't be expanded and so a huge burden would be put on it with the millions of extra passengers going to Gatwick.
