My concerns are that this proposal is actually for a new runway not to simply open up an existing emergency facility. This is misleading. If approved this will allow more than 100,000 additional flights to use Gatwick each year which is an average 280 per day with an additional 32 million passengers or 87,000 per day. Travel links at Gatwick are already under great pressure (road and rail) so what are the plans to connect the airport with passengers final destination wherever it may be? Finally but importantly given the climate emergency that we are all facing, we need less carbon and greenhouse gas emissions not more, yet this doesn't even seem to warrant a mention. Do we really need another runway at Gatwick - in my view no we do not.
