I oppose the proposal for a northern runway at Gatwick Airport for the following reasons: It will create a substantial increase in aircraft noise as several flightpaths are directly over our house; there is a lack of affordable housing in the Gatwick/Crawley area, together with an absence of suitable amenities; the proposal is a blatant attempt by Gatwick Airport to obtain a second runway by the "back door" in contravention of the government's aviation strategy; it flies in the face of the climate change emergency, creating ever more deadly and destabilising greenhouse gases worldwide; the local road and rail infrastructure around Gatwick is not capable of expansion to meet the extra traffic and passenger demands a second runway would impose on the area.
