I am the safety pilot for a LGW-based airline, and live nearby. I support the proposed second runway at LGW, albeit in a controlled way. From a noise perspective, there must not be any increase in flights 7am-9pm, and more can be done to reduce noise emissions (glideslope angle, speed control). The airport has great public transport, but must have a plan for more traveller/staff parking to go with the new runway - we cant have parking prices doubling or more. Bus services also need to be reviewed. Overall, London and the British economy need a new London runway to keep fares down and keep London airports competitive.
