Issues that would relate to our local area include: - Increased noise pollution from the increased number of flights taking off and landing, resulting in a decrease in local living standards. - increased traffic on the roads caused by the increase in staff and passengers leading to more damage caused to the roads (potholes etc...), increased travel times for locals trying to get anywhere, and a increase in local pollution levels. - when an issue does happen on the M23, more traffic will be diverted through local roads which are already stretched with their existing traffic. In addition to local issues, I don't believe Gatwick can handle their existing passenger numbers so shouldn't be able to increase their numbers. There are constant reports of cancelled flights, problems with security, problems with luggage. Although Gatwick pass on the responsibility to other organisations for all of these, Gatwick should ultimately be responsible for their service to customers. Letting them increase their flights will increase passenger numbers and will result in more cancelled flights, delays at security and lost or late luggage.
