Living in (Redacted), we already suffer from extensive noise pollution following the Route 4 decisions several years ago. The addition of another runway and the associated flight burden will only exacerbate this. Given the traffic jams seen around the Gatwick terminal during peak times, the airport and surrounding infrastructure simply are not capable of taking the additional burden. Even if the difficulties recruiting sufficient numbers of ground staff have also been resolved, it is easy to believe that it will be just as difficult to recruit and retain the additional staff needed to support the additional runway. This is a poorly conceived application from a purely financial basis with underlying potentially critical flaws. In addition, against the background of massively concerning scientific evidence of global warming, to bolster air travel and associated pollution further with the new runway is criminally reckless on a Global scale. I am fully opposed.
