I am lying in bed listening to the current aircraft noise, listening to the birds. The south east corner of England is already an extremely busy area, over populated. Bringing a new runway will have a disastrous impact on the local infrastructure, and more importantly do we require more flights when we are thinking about the environmental impact of flying. Not only the impact of increased flights but the impact of the building word and more people travelling to the airport. The train service to gatwick is often dangerously busy, with trains crammed full, throughout the day and at weekends. The roads are busy already, with the m25 already struggling to take the demand of traffic. Health services are already at above capacity with no expansion planned and no more money. How will the local community manage with the increase in demand How will the local environment cope? I strongly object to the need for a second runway. If this is really required surely developing other airports in the country would be more wise, areas where the infrastructure is less stressed already. We risk losing so much of our precious countryside in this south east corner to accommodate air travel. Once a new runway is built a new terminal will be needed. The demand on the environment increases. When will this stop?
