Hello, I am writing to object to the proposed use of the Northern, safety run-way, as an extension of Gatwick operations. Gatwick already causes major noise intrusion to the residents of Speldhurst, including late at night and early morning. There are already quite enough flights going in and out of the airport. We should not be subject to even more flights, especially at the increasingly unsociable hours we are now experiencing more and more. There aren't enought air traffic control officers now - how is the new run-way going to be able to function. The proposed run-way is the Safety Run-way, for emergencies - how can this then be used for 'normal' flights. We have all seen the Uturn the Govt. has had to make on using 'hard-shoulders' and the dangers/deaths these have caused. It only takes one emergency! This will add to more air pollution and noise over what is a AONB, and the damage to historic tourist venues. The infrastructure leading to the airport is already over-subscribed/inadequate. The M25 constantly has problems and rail links tenuous to say the least. Trains impossible and minimal. The overseas consortium who own and run the airport have no concern for local people. Just making money is their primary aim. Gatwick lost it's bid to have increased usage in the recent Govt. consultation and this is just a 'back-door' way of getting what it wants, without proper planning requirement. I It should not be allowed.
