I have 2 main objections. My 1st objection is the impact a second runway will have on global warming. We should be flying more not less. I know several people who have flown abroad this year for holidays and complained how hot it is. What do they expect? Flying to holiday destinations is part of the problem. My second (main) objection is to Gatwick night flights. They are the bane of my life. They keep me awake. At any time between 11pm until 3am they can be as regular as every 2 minutes. They are supposed to be quiet planes. I don't know what constitutes quiet, but they are loud enough to wake me up, so not that quiet. The general public have a belief that there are no such thing as night flights. That is the case for Heathrow but NOT Gatwick. Why don't we matter? There should be no night flights at Gatwick. What if there is a 2nd run way? Will there be twice the number of night flights? Please, PLEASE NO. There should be fewer. The expectation for a good night's sleep should be sacrosanct, a given right.
