My comments are critical of the proposal and include the following concerns 1. Increased overhead noise 2. Questionable statistics used show the need for additional capacity in the South East - is the motivation really more about increasing the profitability and value of the airport for commercial gain rather than to address a real need? 3. Major negative impact on road traffic using the local and national roads 4. "Job creation" is not a benefit unless the proposals includes realistic and actual funding for accommodating social infrastucture such as schools, hospitals etc 5. The proposal ignores the need to reduce the country's carbon footprint and address other environmental concerns - especially as the need for the expansion is dubious (see 2. above)
