Whilst i appreciate that the South of England requires more airport capacity i do not believe that Gatwick is the right choice for this. As someone who travels domestically every week from Gatwick it has the worst on time performance of most UK airports. With so many movements per hour the airport operates on knife edge, with any external factor essentially decimating the enter operation. I have been a huge fan of Gatwick, and it is my local airport. However, this year i have been forced to switch to London city, an airport 100 minutes away from my home as the on time performance of Gatwick has been so poor. Given its inability to handle current traffic levels i cannot see how an expansion would be any different.
