The impact of a new runway will increase the release of greenhouse gases, exacerbating the climate crisis. Existing infrastructure will be severely affected, resulting in the worsening of air quality and increase in noise, with millions of additional passengers each year. This contradicts the governments own aviation policy as a new runway is being proposed and not, as claimed, bringing an existing runway into regular use.
