The local infrastructure is not sufficient to support the anticipated additional passenger numbers nor the required additional employees. It is difficult enough to get a primary school place, Drs surgery etc as it is without additional people moving to the area. In terms of the passengers the transport system surrounding the airport isn’t sufficient to cope with such an increase in numbers. Lastly from an environmental perspective adding over 100,000 flights a year with the associated CO2 emissions coupled with all the emissions from the various modes of transport that the passengers use to get to the airport is going to be extremely harmful when we should be looking to cut emissions. Lastly construction work and then the location of the new runway will drastically increase the noise pollution and disruption to the local residents.
