We are in a climate emergency, so we don't need any extra release of greenhouse gases. More flights would mean more pressure on the rail and road networks serving the airport. About 76 million more passengers per year adds to a further decline in air quality. The proposal is for a new runway – not bringing an existing runway into regular use, as claimed. We're in a climate emergency so we don't need more airport runways.
