My wife and I have lived at this address since 1970 and have become accustomed to and accepting of aircraft noise whilst always finding it objectionable to a degree. Our environment is normally peaceful as we are far enough away from the national limit B2027, surrounded by farmland with the occasional noise it entails. However, when aircraft pass overhead, even at the correct altitude, sufficient noise is generated for conversation to have to be paused and when there is frequent air traffic considerable nuisance is caused for significant periods. My wife and I are therefore firmly opposed to any change which would increase the frequency of air traffic overhead. The proposal to create effectively a corridor for aircraft on the grounds that this will enable the greatest possible number of planes is particularly objectionable as it is apparently in order to generate maximum profit and to disregard the plight of all those under the corridor. We are also conscious of the environmental impact of these additional flights when governments are so involved in emissions reduction elsewhere.
