-Drawbacks outweigh benefits to the local community: - 1. LGW will increase submissions substantially by circa 50% vs currently - totally incongruent with the fact that the residents who are overflown are being forced by the Government to replace their oil boilers and look for more sustainable ways to heat homes. How can this be justified? Incongruent with Governmental environmental policy. 2. LGW allows old noisy planes to land eg Emirates, Tui, - these are not only noisy but they emit a large amount of CO2. There is no serious commitment from LGW to focus on more sustainable aircrafts. 3. Flight paths are over ANOB so how can we justify a 50% increase of emissions in the air when farmers are being penalised and encouraged to cut down on emissions? Why can more planes be allowed over an AONB? 4.Road infrastructure is inadequate - residents in Edenbridge, Newchapel and Lingfield already suffer significantly when there is a hold up on the M25 and satnavs re-routing traffic through villages. 5. LGW unlike LHR refuses to not fly at night. Given the open nature of the AONB this causes significant noise as there are no buildings to absorb the noise. 6/ LHR has already been approved so there is no need for LGW to expand and double its flights at a time when we should be flying less. Certainly in business circles post COVID many meetings are on Zoom and teams. 7. In summary any small economic benefit is outweighed by the detrimental impact on the environment and local residents. Unacceptable for LGW to produce circa 6% of the UK CO2 emissions by 2038.
