There is no reasonable case for ruining the ecology and the quality of life in the Gatwick airport catchment area by building a second runway. Anyone taking the least amount of responsibility for reducing carbon emissions and reducing the appalling destruction of our habitat would agree that air travel should be curtailed, not expanded. If the managers and shareholders of the foreign funds which own the airport want to become richer, there are far more respectable and productive ways of doing so
