Strongly object to the proposal to use the emergency runway as a permanent 2nd runway. Nothing has changed since the government objected to expansion plans and chose Heathrow as the preferred choice. Noise pollution to millions of people who live in Crawley, copthorne, East Grinstead and surrounding areas. Already the noise with one runway is awful, two runways would make this even worse. The invisible air pollution to all residents of surrounding areas will increase. We already suffer with (redacted), (redacted) etc.The infrastructure is struggling as it is, the thought of many more passengers, cars etc will put pressure on existing roads and affect the people of Crawley and Horley. How is the airport going to attract thousands of new staff? Are people going to travel into the airport from further a field…bringing more cars, congestion and pollution to the area. What is the demand for this expansion? Are passengers begging for more flights? No I think not. We have to remember Heathrow is the chosen airport for expansion. Is there the demand for Gatwick to expand too? Is no one thinking of the environment at Gatwick or do they really not care. I repeat I am strongly objecting to these plans. Gatwick is acting underhandedly by cheating their way to expanding by using the emergency runway. Can I ask what happens in an emergency if there is no longer an emergency runway?
