there’ll be an extra 101,000 flights a year. This will increase carbon emissions, road traffic, noise and air pollution. To be specific: These plans will increase the release of greenhouse gases, which are responsible for the climate emergency we’re facing Create more pressure on the rail and road networks serving the airport, with 76 million more passengers per year adding to a further decline in air quality AND UNDERMINE THE GOVERNMENT’S AVIATION STRATEGY l. The proposal is for a new runway – not bringing an existing runway into regular use, as claimed.
