Expansion of the airport goes against any action against global warming as it aids and encourages the worst form of transport from this perspective. It also will increase the impact of the airport on the local community, particularly with regard to noise and pollution. Regional transport (and its associated carbon emissions and pollution) will be impacted unless road transport to the airport is forbidden. The impact on the local economy regarding jobs is exaggerated, as usage and the associated jobs will be maintained using the existing facilities, and new employment should be encouraged in the "green" economy not the old destructive economy.
