The south east of England lacks any resilience regarding runway capacity. This is desperately needed as a full length runway hasn't been built in the south of England for over 50 years while other major cities such as Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Dublin, Madrid and Paris have all added runways. Aircraft are quieter and more efficient than ever. Airlines are rapidly retiring older models and replacing with newer, more efficient types. No UK operator utilises the Boeing 747 anymore, having replaced them with quieter 787s and A350s. The local area needs the extra economic boost and high quality jobs.
