- Increase in aircraft noise - over 100,000 additional flights a year proposed. 2. Most of the possible new jobs will be insecure and low skill. There is insufficient housing locally for even a proportion of the new workers envisaged by the airport. 3. Lack of adequate transport options. The M23 is already crowded as is the M25 into which it feeds. The airport sits on the Brighton line which cannot be expanded although the airport envisages an additional 32 million passengers pa. 4. The world is facing a climate emergency and the considerable emissions, which the expansion of Gatwick airport would produce, would make it even more difficult for the UK to approach Net Zero by 2050
