My concerns are focused on surface transport and the increase in car movements aligned to increased passenger numbers and more workers. This will undermine the net zero objectives set by Surrey County Council and also add to congestion which is already a problem affecting productivity and air quality. If the M25 has traffic on many travellers will cut through local villages and towns from Dorking area and these roads cannot take increased traffic. This is likely to mean poorer air quality for the thousands of residents in this area as well as some areas experiencing noise impact from increased flight paths. The likelihood of increased congestion and possible impact of poor health linked to air quality could outweigh the economic benefits and therefore it needs to be clear how the impact of increased poor air quality and noise can be mitigated. Additionally there is a lack of information around how the economic benefits of the project will benefit the Surrey area as it seems to be directed more towards Sussex in which the airport is located.
