GAL is not being open about the brand new Runway that they propose to build as it is 12 meters North on the existing Emergency Runway and will have additional taxiways. The potential 101,000 additional aircraft will create more than 1 million tons of CO2. Gatwick only measure 2.5mm particles within the existing site and do not take in to account the potential enormous increase in motor traffic as they are planning on additional carparks for staff and passengers. The rail link to London cannot be increased due to the lack of access through Croydon also there is no direct link for East/West traffic other than from Redhill. The A22 and A23 are single lane roads and are currently full during the rush hours. The M25 at Junction 7 is at capacity and the M23 is an Unsafe Smart Motorway There is no direct link to Heathrow. Gatwick is also allowed Night Flights unlike Heathrow where they are banned which creates noise and disturbance to sleep patterns. GAL are not considering the impact upon Dormansland, Lingfield and Smallfield where some 75% of flights come in due to the prevailing wind direction from the South West. They have not considered the effect upon the High Weald AONB wildlife as aircraft are not above 7,000 feet when they approach Gatwick on the final approach over Dormansland which is in the AONB. I believe the High Weald AONB have written to DEFRA and the EA in addition to GAL. The final item is the potential for some 10,000 additional lorries carrying freight to and fro from Gatwick which will bring further traffic problems to our very busy roads,
