The positive move to bring into use the secondary runway without need for major construction is the best way to increase economic activity in a sustainable way. When compared with an additional runway at Heathrow, Gatwick's expansion will be cheaper, faster, and more environmentally friendly. With improved rail links to Gatwick, most travellers will be able to reach the airport via public transport. Diversification and competition between Gatwick and other London airports will bring benefits to the consumer.
