Air travel is a major contributor to the increase in greenhouse gases and we should be looking at ways of reducing air travel and offering other more environmentally-friendly options for long distance travel. The money would be better spent on improvements to the railway network. I am concerned about the noise levels that will result in an increase in the size of the airport. Although it will have only a modest impact here in Steyning, it will have a far greater impact on people living closer to Gatwick.
